Burnout in Men After 40: What's Really Happening Inside Your Body — and How Hormone Yoga Helps

Burnout in men after 40 — how Hormone Yoga helps restore energy and vitality

Once I taught Hormone Yoga to a man who was the Prime Minister of our country at the time. The newspapers were writing that he should run for president. I asked him: "So, are you going to run?" He replied: "Petr, right now I don't have the energy even for myself and my family."

A month later I asked him again. He said: "I'm running for president."

He didn't win in the end — but that's beyond what Hormone Yoga can influence. What it gave him back was energy and vitality. I Taught the Prime Minister Hormone Yoga — And He Took It to Mauritius.

Burnout is not weakness. It's not an excuse. It's a biological state — and if you're a man over 40 who has been pushing hard for years and never allows himself a moment for himself, it's only a matter of time before your body sends a stronger signal that something is wrong.

I've been there myself. And it wasn't until I understood what was happening inside my body that I started dealing with it the right way.

How Burnout Shows Up in Men — and Why We Miss It

Men don't burn out overnight. It comes gradually. First, fatigue that doesn't go away after sleep. Then irritability. Then loss of motivation. Projects that used to excite you stop mattering.

Most men ignore it. They tell themselves: I'm just tired. I need a holiday. I'll have a coffee. I'll push through.

But the body is sending clear signals: sleep gets worse, libido drops, concentration falls apart, physical performance declines, immunity weakens. I've written about what burnout and insomnia actually look like in a separate article.

This isn't just tiredness. This is burnout — and it has a specific biological cause.

What's Happening Inside Your Body

When you're under prolonged pressure, your body produces cortisol — the stress hormone. The problem starts when cortisol stays elevated for weeks and months.

Chronically High Cortisol Does Three Things

It suppresses testosterone production. Research shows that chronic stress and disrupted sleep can suppress the hormonal axis that regulates testosterone — meaning less energy, motivation, libido, and muscle mass. This isn't necessarily permanent, but it's real and it's reversible. The connection between testosterone, stress, and libido goes deeper than most men realise.

It exhausts the adrenal glands. Under chronic stress they work overtime — until they can't keep up. Your body then loses its ability to respond to stress properly or recover from it.

It destroys your sleep. Cortisol should be high in the morning and low in the evening. In burnout, it's often the opposite.

Why Men Handle It the Wrong Way

Most men respond to burnout by pushing harder — more coffee, more exercise, more work. Or they swing the other way and stop completely. Both approaches make things worse.

The body doesn't need more pressure or more resignation. It needs a hormonal reset — a natural reduction of cortisol and stimulation of the glands that produce testosterone and energy. There's a different way to handle stress — at home and at work — and it's something I cover from personal experience.

What Helped Me

Hormone Yoga for Men is a comprehensive system of physical and breathing techniques I started practising when I was at rock bottom. I wasn't expecting miracles. But after one week I was sleeping better. After three weeks I had the energy, libido, and vitality I hadn't felt in years.

I started playing hockey again, boxing, and working out — all combined with Hormone Yoga for Men.

I see the same thing with my clients, who at the beginning of their practice can't imagine escaping the endless cycle of stress and low mood. After a month, they're back to their hobbies.

What Specifically Helps

  • Breathing techniques that activate the parasympathetic nervous system — switching the body from stress mode into recovery mode
  • Exercises targeting the adrenal glands and testes — the glands central to restoring energy
  • Guided relaxation that lowers cortisol more deeply than regular sleep

I practise at home, 3× a week, 22 minutes. No gym, no supplements, no medication — and I feel great, just like thousands of men who practise Hormone Yoga.

FAQ

Can burnout cause low testosterone?

Chronic stress and burnout can suppress the hormonal axis that regulates testosterone production. This is a reversible adaptation of the body — not necessarily a permanent condition. The key is to lower cortisol and support natural testosterone production.

How long does it take for Hormone Yoga to work?

From my own experience and client feedback: the first improvements in sleep come within a week, and a noticeable increase in energy and libido within 3–4 weeks of regular practice, 3× per week.

How much time does Hormone Yoga take?

Just 22 minutes, 3× a week. You practise at home, with no equipment and no supplements needed.
